RALEIGH, N.C. — The Wake County planning director is looking for another job.

Melanie Wilson, who has held the post for seven years, is on administrative leave pending approval of the county budget, a county spokeswoman said.

Wilson’s position, which carries a $123,359 annual salary, is among those slated to be cut when the new fiscal year begins July 1, according to Sarah Williamson, a county spokeswoman.

Wake County Manager David Cooke proposed that the county cut 122 positions to help balance the 2009-2010 budget. Cooke’s proposal, for almost $100 million, is 3.1 percent less than the county budget for the fiscal year 2008-09.

County commissioners are expected to vote on the budget Monday.
