Pitt County deputy dies in single-vehicle wreck

A 34-year-old Pitt County deputy died early Wednesday in a wreck on Tilghman Mill Road in Kinston, the sheriff's office confirmed.

GREENVILLE, N.C. — A 34-year-old Pitt County deputy died early Wednesday in a wreck on Tilghman Mill Road in Kinston, the sheriff's office confirmed.

Deputy Taylor Frink crashed his personal vehicle at about 9 a.m. near the Hugo Volunteer Fire Department. Sheriff Neil Elks said Frink wrecked after leaving the Pitt County Detention Center from his overnight shift.

No information about the cause of the wreck has been released.

Frink joined the Pitt County Sheriff's Office in May 2015.

Elks said Frink was a "valued employee that will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Please keep his family and our work family in prayer."
