A person was killed Tuesday afternoon when their car wrecked off Interstate 540 near Knightdale, authorities said.

KNIGHTDALE, N.C. — A person was killed Tuesday afternoon when their car wrecked off Interstate 540 near Knightdale, authorities said.
The car crashed through a barrier, went airborne and landed in some trees just before 3 p.m.
The victim’s name has not been released.
Authorities were still investigating the cause of the wreck late Tuesday.
