Person killed in fiery crash in Johnston County

The crash occurred before 4:15 a.m. west of Princeton on Progressive Church Road at Bakers Chapel Road.

Firefighters at the scene said a man was using a van to tow a 4-wheeler on a small trailer connected to the van and lost control, overcorrecting and hitting a tree and a ditch before the van caught on fire.

The driver died at the scene. No other passengers were in the car.

The road was closed while crews investigated and removed the van, but both lanes reopened around 6:30 a.m.
