Man hit, killed by Amtrak train in Burlington
A 25-year-old man was hit and killed by an Amtrak train in Burlington Tuesday afternoon.
Posted — UpdatedBURLINGTON, N.C. — A 25-year-old man was hit and killed by an Amtrak train in Burlington Tuesday afternoon.
Franklin D. Gwynn, of Gunn Street in Burlington, was hit by a northbound train in the area of the 100 block of North Fisher Street near West Webb Avenue. The incident occurred at about 2 p.m. as the train approached the Burlington Amtrak Station.
Amtrak personnel reported seeing Gwynn walking on the tracks prior to the incident, police said.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
