LUMBERTON, N.C. — A Pembroke man has been charged in the shooting deaths of three men in Maxton a week ago, authorities said Monday.

Casey Collins Locklear, 22, of 202 Casey Road, was charged late Friday with three counts of first-degree murder. He remains in the Robeson County jail without bond.

Deputies responding to a 911 call around on Nov. 30 found the bodies of Mitch Oxendine, 35, and Teddy Maynor, 34, in some woods behind a home on McLeod Drive in Maxton. John Freeman, 43, was taken to Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, where he died.

Relatives said Oxendine and Freeman were shot in the head and that Maynor was shot twice in the back.

Authorities didn't release any information on a possible motive or what evidence led to Locklear's arrest.

Local residents say the area where the men were found – called "Little Swamp" – is known for parties and drug activity. Relatives said they thought the shootings might have been in retaliation related to some kind of incident.
