Pedestrian struck, killed in Garner
Authorities said a pedestrian was killed on the ramp from Interstate 40 eastbound toward N.C. Highway 70 Wednesday afternoon in Garner.

GARNER, N.C. — Authorities said a pedestrian was killed on the ramp from Interstate 40 eastbound toward N.C. Highway 70 Wednesday around 4:30 p.m. in Garner.
Police said the driver, Jason Aaron Jones, 36, of Clayton was driving a 2015 Porsche SUV on the exit ramp when he ran off the road and collided with James Allen Lucas, 47.
Officials were detouring vehicles to Jones Sausage Road or Highway 70 bypass as alternate routes to the Clayton area.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity. Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
