FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A pedestrian was hit by a Fayetteville police car Saturday night, according to officials.

According to police, officer Aaron Hunt was trying to catch up to a motor vehicle violator just after 6:30 p.m. when Billy Jerome Green, 50, walked into the path of the patrol car at the intersection of Murchison Road near Bullock Street.

Hunt, who has been employed with the Fayetteville Police Department since April 2010, took evasive action but collided with the pedestrian, according to officials.

Green was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
