Authorities were investigating late Friday after an Amtrak train traveling from New York to Miami hit and killed a pedestrian in Wilson.

<b>WILSON, N.C.</b> — Authorities were investigating late Friday after an Amtrak train traveling from New York to Miami hit and killed a pedestrian in Wilson.

The incident happened at about 8 p.m. near the intersection of Nash and Lodge streets, authorities said.

No passengers on the train were injured. Authorities have not released the pedestrian's name.

The train, which was carrying 144 passengers, left Wilson at about 10:40 p.m. to continue its trip to Miami.
