Park West Village to host children's business fair Saturday
The event will feature a variety of kidpreneurs, ages 6 to 14 - from a jewelry maker to a photographer and a variety of artists.
Posted — UpdatedTwo local moms are organizing the Morrisville event. Monica Goodson of Apex has one son. Rupal Nishar of Morrisville has two kids. Goodson is founder of North Carolina Children's Events, which is an education and entertainment events company. The fair is the venture's inaugural event.
"My reason for bringing the business fair to the area is to give budding young entrepreneurs a platform to showcase their ideas, inventions, goods and services in a safe forum," Goodson tells me. "I am a strong believer and supporter of exposing children to entrepreneurship at a young age."
Nishar is marketing director at Men in Kilts and Veekas and enjoys working with kids.
"As a community, we need to invest in the next generation of leaders," she tells me. "Getting children involved in entrepreneurship programs at a young age will help inspire them to become the architects of their own future."
The two hope to make the fair, which, like the Raleigh event, is part of a national network of children's business fairs, an annual event. All of the slots have been filled to sell items in the farmers' market-like fair, but they would love lots of shoppers to come out to support these kids.
