Pamlico jail cook charged with having sex, providing drugs to inmates

A 47-year-old cook at the Pamlico County jail is accused of having a sexual relationship with an inmate and providing drugs to other inmates inside the facility.

BAYBORO, N.C. — A 47-year-old cook at the Pamlico County jail is accused of having a sexual relationship with an inmate and providing drugs to other inmates inside the facility.

Dawn Brigman Hayes, of Merritt, is charged with six counts of sexual offense by a custodian and one count each of possession of controlled substance in a jail facility, possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hayes is employed by Trinity Food Service Group, which is contracted to prepare and serve food inside the facility.

Hayes was placed in the jail under a $150,000 bond.
