Pair charged in Rocky Mount homicide

Two other people have been charged as conspirators in a shooting death, and police were searching for a third suspect.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Police have charged two men in the shooting death of a 24-year-old man last Friday.

Kevin "Kiki" Harper, 47, and Quentin "Quen-Quen" Harper Jr., 22, were arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder, police said. Both men were being held Wednesday in the Edgecombe County Jail without bond.

Police found Amir Anderson, 24, dead in the front yard of Quentin Harper's home on Branch Street. Anderson had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators have identified a possible motive in the slaying, but no details were released.

Police also have charged Zella Hartfield, 20, and Vincent Harper, 46, with conspiracy after the fact of murder. Officers also were searching Wednesday for Quentin "Pluck" Harper Sr., 44, who has been charged with conspiracy after the fact of murder.

Jason Bernard Hicks, 26, who was questioned in the investigation is no longer considered a suspect, police said.
