Pair arrested in Fuquay-Varina bank robbery

Detectives identified and arrested two suspects within 32 hours of a bank robbery Wednesday afternoon, Fuquay-Varina police said.

FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — Detectives identified and arrested two suspects within 32 hours of a bank robbery Wednesday afternoon, Fuquay-Varina police said.

Investigators said that James Alexander Hayes, 21, carried a firearm, threatened employees and stole money from First Federal Bank, on Judd Parkway, and that Danitria Dorisell Nickens, 25, drove the get-away car.

Police said Wake County sheriff's deputies helped arrest Nickens was arrested in Willow Spring Thursday evening, and several hours later, Harnett County sheriff's deputies helped arrest Hayes at his home at 261 Arbor Crest Court in Lillington.

Hayes was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. Nickens, of 532 Peace Haven Place in Apex, faces a charge of accessory after the fact of felony robbery with a dangerous weapon.

They were both placed in the Wake County jail.
