ORO opens Sunday in downtown Raleigh
ORO features comfort food, kicked up a notch - like caramlized pork belly skewers served with a thai chili sauce.
Posted — UpdatedRestaurant owners Chris and Cara Hylton said in March that their goal was to combine global cuisine at a price less than $15 an entree. From the looks of their menu, it appears they succeeded. The most expensive dinner items – lobster skewers, grilled lamp chops, braised pork and Chilean seabass – are $15 each.
One menu item that caught my eye - the fried softshell crab ($11) served with an apricot jalapeno vinaigrette and mango jicama salad.
If you have special dietary concerns, this might be a good place to check out. Their menu is designed to feature a variety of gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options.
Their cocktail menu features drinks like the Spicy Pisces ($8), a mix of vodka, lime juice and habanero infused simple syrup, and Kid in a Candy Store ($8), a blend of strawberry vodka, gummy bears and rock candy.
Local beers are available on draft and by the bottle
When you go, look for their 17-foot wine conveyor system, and Enomatic System that allows them to have 16 wines "on tap."
If you can't decide which cocktail or wine you want to try, they offer a sampler tray, which lets you select three.
One more thing to watch out for: Servers are going high-tech by sending orders to the kitchen through an iPad app.
Their normal hours are:
- Monday-Thursday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Friday 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
- Saturday 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.
- Sunday 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
