One shot in Zebulon

Law enforcement agencies were at a home in Zebulon early Friday morning responding to a shooting.

ZEBULON, N.C. — Dozens of officers and deputies were at a home in Zebulon early Friday morning investigating a homicide.

Police said that Porfiro Rodriquez, 46, was killed in an apartment behind a home on West Barbee Street. Rodriquez also goes by Sasha.

Police said "undisclosed items" were taken from the home during the robbery and shooting.

Ali Tariq Khabir Wiggins, of Wendell, was charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection to the shooting.

Zebulon police Rodriquez's mother heard a gunshot and found her child. Rodriquez died at the scene.

A black SUV in the driveway of the home on West Barbee Street in Zebulon had a shattered driver's side window.

Police said Wiggins knew Rodriquez and they believe the attack was targeted. Additional charges are expected, police said, as they work to identity other people involved in the shooting.
