FOUR OAKS, N.C. — A Johnston County man was jailed Thursday after a fight with an acquaintance ended in gunfire.

Jesse Junior Sanders, 76, shot E.C. Nixon, 73, at his home at 2339 Strickland’s Crossroads Road Thursday afternoon, said Maj. Bengie Gaddis of the Johnston County Sheriff's Office.

The two men got in a fist fight at Nixon's house, then Sanders left and returned with a shotgun, injuring Nixon in the leg, Gaddis said.

Sanders was being held on $40,000 bond on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
