Durham police were investigating two shootings early Wednesday that sent a pair of victims to local hospitals.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police were investigating two shootings early Wednesday that sent a pair of victims to local hospitals.

The first shooting was reported in the 2200 block of Ashe Street at about 9:20 p.m. Tuesday.

The second shooting happened on Woodcrest Street at about 12:15 a.m. Authorities said a 17-year-old male was shot while standing outside and taken to a local hospital for the treatment of serious injuries.

Authorities said it does not appear that the shootings, which happened about 3 miles from each other, are connected.
