A 26-year-old Angier man died late Thursday after crashing his motorcycle into a pickup truck on N.C. Highway 210 near Interstate 40, investigators with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.

Investigators said Camilo Gomez Apolinar, of 432 Clayton Road, was traveling east on N.C. 210 without his headlights on at about 9:20 p.m. when a Johnston County trooper attempted to pull him over.

Apolinar did not stop his motorcycle, troopers said, and he crossed the center line while traveling west on N.C. 210, hitting a Toyota truck driven by Smithfield resident Sandra Miller.

Apolinar was thrown from the bike in the wreck. He was taken to Wake Med, where he later died. Miller and her passenger, Edward Miller, were taken to Johnston Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No other information about the incident has been released. N.C. 210 was closed for several hours following the incident.
