Police search for suspect in Fayetteville homicide

An unidentified man was shot and killed Friday evening in the 4300 block of Rosehill Road near College Lakes Park, Fayetteville police said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — An unidentified man was shot and killed Friday evening in the 4900 block of Rosehill Road near College Lakes Park, Fayetteville police said.

Officers were called to the area at about 8 p.m. According to investigators, the male victim was a passenger in a vehicle traveling east on Rosehill Road when 21-year-old Kenneth Jerome Hobbs Jr., a passenger in the vehicle, began shooting inside the car.

The male victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he died.

The female driver of the vehicle was also injured, but her injures were not considered life-threatening, police said.

Hobbs jumped from the car and ran from the scene. Officers were searching the area Friday night for him.

Hobbs was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting and should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.
