One killed in Garner car crash

One person was killed Monday evening after a three car collision on White Oak Road near Interstate 40.

GARNER, N.C. — One person was killed Monday evening after a three car collision on White Oak Road near Interstate 40.

A preliminary investigation done by the N.C. State Highway Patrol reported a vehicle driven by Henry Munday, 79, of Garner, was traveling north on White Oak Road just after 6 p.m. Munday traveled left of center, swiping a vehicle traveling the opposite direction. After swiping the southbound vehicle, Munday collided with a third vehicle head on.

The driver of the third vehicle, identified at Christopher Wright, 31, of Garner, died as a result of the accident, according to the Highway Patrol.

Munday was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The other driver involved, Philip Lawler, 54, of Garner, was uninjured.
