One killed in Fayetteville house fire

One man was killed late Thursday in a fire that destroyed a two-story home in Fayetteville, police said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — One man was killed late Thursday in a fire that destroyed a two-story home in Fayetteville, police said. 

Fire crews responding to a home at 1163 Derbyshire Road about 11:15 p.m. found it engulfed in flames and found Scott Wayne Sturzebecker, 53, dead on the first floor.

More than 20 firefighters battled the fire, bringing it under control in about 45 minutes. Investigators from the Fayetteville Fire Department and State Bureau of Investigation were on scene early Friday. 

No details about the cause of the fire were immediately available. No other injuries were reported.
