One dead, one injured in Nash County crash

One person died and another was injured in two-vehicle crash on Red Oak Battleboro Road in Nash County, according to investigators.

NASH COUNTY, N.C. — One person died and another was injured in two-vehicle crash on Red Oak Battleboro Road in Nash County, according to investigators.

Authorities said the crash happened just after 4 p.m. Saturday. According to investigators, Howard Hardy Leonard, 80, was driving his Ford F-250 truck north on Halifax Road when he did not stop at a four way stop sign and crashed into a GNC truck. Leonard was ejected from his vehicle and died at the scene, investigators said.

The driver of the second vehicle, whose name was not released was sent to a local hospital. A second passenger was not injured in the crash.

According to investigators, Leonard was not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
