BUNNLEVEL, N.C. — A Broadway man died early Thursday after a shooting in Bunnlevel, authorities said.

Harnett County deputies responded to a shooting call at 831 Darroch Road shortly after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday and found James Jefferson, 53, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators later arrested Jesus Caulderon, 28, at his home on Thoroughfare Branch Road in Sanford and charged him with first-degree murder, first-degree burglary and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Authorities said Jefferson and Caulderon knew each other, but they provided no other details, including a possible motive, about the shooting.
