One person died Saturday in a house fire outside of Vass in Moore County, authorities said. 

<b>CARTHAGE, N.C.</b> — One person died Saturday in a house fire outside of Vass in Moore County, authorities said. 

A group of passing Cypress Pointe firefighters drove up on the burning home at 4492 Union Church Road just after 11 a.m.

According to authorities, by the time firefighters arrived, flames and heavy smoke could be seen coming from one end of the home.

One female was found dead inside, but the person's identity has not been released. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
