One arrested, two sought in Wayne County robberies

Police were searching Monday for two men in the robbery of a Goldsboro supermarket in which a store clerk was shot.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Police were searching Monday for two men in the robbery of a Goldsboro supermarket in which a store clerk was shot.

Three masked men went into the Save More store at 1903 E. Ash St. at about 1 a.m. and demanded money from the clerk. After getting the money, one of the men shot the clerk in the leg and fired a shot at a customer in the store, police said.

Less than an hour later, Mount Olive police received a report of an armed robbery at a convenience store. An officer stopped a vehicle that he saw leaving the convenience store, and the three men inside fled on foot.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office brought in K-9s to search the area, and they arrested one man nearby.

Kevin Sanders, no age or address available, was charged with two counts each of robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and one count of resist, delay and obstruct. He was being held Monday in the Wayne County Jail under a $550,000 bond.
