Off-duty officers, men assaulted at Rocky Mount club
Rocky Mount police made two arrests after separate fights at a nightclub early Saturday led to the stabbing of two men and the assault of two off-duty officers. A shooting into a house might also be linked to the fights.
Posted — UpdatedPolice said that Travis Freeman and Gregory Freeman were stabbed with a knife by an unidentified person during a fight at Club 252, 2720 N. Church St.
Travis Freeman was stabbed in the chest, and Gregory Freeman was stabbed in the hip. Both were transported to Nash General Hospital and were in stable condition.
Police have not identified their attacker.
Later that night, two off-duty officers working at the club saw a person on the dance floor being assaulted by two men – identified by police as Christopher Silver and Aligh-Juwan Strayhorne. When officers intervened, Silver kicked one, Strayhorne pushed the other to the floor, and the men then fled the club.
Strayhorne sped away but was stopped near the club, police said. He was arrested and charged with assault on a government official, careless and reckless driving, assault and driving with a revoked license.
Silver was arrested over the weekend and charged with assault on a government official and physical assault.
Police are also investigating a shooting into an occupied dwelling early Sunday in connection with the assaults.
April Fields told police that she believes someone shot at her Branch Street house in retaliation for the fight involving Silver and Strayhorne.
