The 23rd annual Oakwood Garden Tour is set for the first weekend in May. And this year, the event, sponsored by the Oakwood Garden Club, will include a special Mommy and Me Tea.

The two-day event includes tours of the historic neighborhood in downtown Raleigh. Visitors can get ideas for annual and perennial gardens and learn about the neighborhood's history and architectural styles.

The tea portion of the event will feature vintage china and hand-selected teas provided by Tin Roof Teas, along with sweet and savory treats from PieBird, Side Street Restaurant, Kiki's Bakery, Market Restaurant, The Oakwood Inn and Celtic Tea Treats.

The Mommy and Me Tea is designed for young children and will include photos from Madre and Bambini Photography. The teas last about an hour (and guests are invited to wear their best hats). It's a great opportunity to pull out that Easter dress again!

The Mommy and Me Tea is at 4 p.m., May 6. The Victorian Teas are at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., both days of the tour - May 5 and May 6.

Tickets are $30 per person (for both the Mommy and Me and Victorian Teas) and only sold in advance. They are available for purchase online through May 1.

Visit www.historicoakwood.org for details and tickets or contact the Oakwood Inn at 919- 832-9712. Some seatings are already sold out, though not the Mommy and Me Tea at last check.
