No way to avoid exams: Student sets fire at Sanderson High
A student who hoped to get out of End of Course exams started a small fire during first period at Sanderson High School in Raleigh, a spokeswoman said.

Lisa Luten, speaking for the Wake County Public School System, said classes were disrupted for about an hour while students were moved from the first floor, where there was smoke, to portable classrooms and the gymnasium.
Luten said students were briefly outdoors, but they did not have to stay outside for the duration of the evacuation.
Students finished their first period after the smoke was cleared, but exams scheduled for third period were postponed until next Friday, Luten said.
Students were back in class by noon.
She did not identify the student behind the incident or say whether that student would face school or criminal punishment.
