Head west, because the Triangle is going to be warm, windy and possibly wet as the man in red makes his way toward North Carolina.
Rain chances will diminish on Thursday as a cold front dissipates before getting to the region, but cold temperatures won’t filter in behind it.
"It looks like our overall chance of rain today will be considerably lower than the last couple of days," WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss said. "A stray shower or isolated thunderstorm is not out of the question, but a lot of us will be missing out for significant stretches."
The Triangle could see record high temperatures on Christmas Eve, with the forecast calling for a high of 77. That would break the mark of 75, which was set in 1931.
As Santa flies through the region Thursday night, he’ll do so with temperatures in the upper 60s.
The story will be similar on Christmas Day, although clouds could be a bit thinner.
Friday’s high temperatures will once again be in the mid- to upper 70s, warm enough to threaten the record high for Christmas Day, a 75-degree mark set in 1955.
It’ll be the second straight warm Christmas for the Triangle, as high temperatures in 2014 were also well above normal.
High temperatures will remain in the mid-70s throughout the weekend before backing down into the 60s early next week with another chance for rain.
