GREENVILLE, N.C. — Police officers arrested a night club employee after seeing him throw a patron onto the street early Saturday, according to the Greenville Police Department.

Officers said that while on foot patrol around 2 a.m., they saw the worker, Robert Edmonds, push a patron off the sidewalk outside Lucky's Night Club, 209 E. Fifth St. The man landed face-first on the pavement of the street, police said, and needed surgery for several facial fractures at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Investigators said that Edmonds, 32, of Greenville, had put the man in a chokehold and escorted him to the door. The man lost consciousness while in the chokehold.

Edmonds was charged with assault inflicting serious injury. He was being held in the Pitt County Detention Center Monday under a $10,000 secured bond.
