Halloween weather is serving up a treat for Triangle trick-or-treaters. Temperatures will reach nearly 70 degrees today. Meanwhile, Chapel Hill leaders have a message for out-of-towners wanting to party on Franklin Street: Don't come here!

Halloween weather is serving up quite a treat for Triangle trick-or-treaters. Friday will be sunny and warm with temperatures reaching nearly 70 degrees by the afternoon.

Temperatures will begin to fall once the sun sets. Little ghosts and goblins (and other characters) can expect temperatures in the 50s as they make their way house-to-house Friday night.

Saturday will be even warmer, with temperatures in the low 70s.

Meanwhile, Chapel Hill leaders have a message for anyone wanting to come to their town Halloween night: If you're not a student or resident, stay home.

Mayor Kevin Foy made a plea on YouTube saying he wants a "safer, smaller, more community-oriented" Halloween.

Last year, more than 80,000 people crammed Franklin Street for the annual Halloween bash. Chapel Hill's bill – including security, clean up and EMS teams – came to more the $220,000.

This year, town officials are restricting parking, canceling shuttle services, removing newspapers so there's nothing to burn and greasing poles so people can't climb them.
