BERMUDA RUN, N.C. — A Camp Lejeune Marine shot and critically injured his wife before killing himself in front of his parents' home in Davie County Sunday, authorities said.

Davie County Sheriff Andy Stokes says the body of Kirk Walter Harris, 26, of Jacksonville, was found in his parents' driveway about 6:30 a.m. Deputies found his wife, Sarah Browder Harris, 29, across the street with gunshot wounds. She was in intensive care at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Sunday afternoon.

Stokes says the two had been arguing before the shooting. Kyle Harris' parents were not at the home. Deputies said Kyle and Sarah Harris often met there when he was on leave and had been staying there for the weekend.

Authorities said Kyle Harris had recently returned from Afghanistan and had been married for about a year.

WMFY News reported that Sarah Harris is from Greensboro and is attending school there.
