RALEIGH, N.C. — Stephen LaRoque, the former lawmaker indicted on charges he used taxpayer money given to a nonprofit development corporation to fund extravagant personal purchases, could come to trial in October.
A scheduling order in his case calls for motion filings to be completed in September and sets trial for the Oct. 9 term of U.S. District Court in Raleigh. Trial will be before Judge Malcolm J. Howard.
