<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — Stephen LaRoque, the former lawmaker <a href="https://www.wral.com/story/news/state/nccapitol/story/11323882/">indicted on charges he used taxpayer money given to a nonprofit development corporation to fund extravagant personal purchases</a>, could come to trial in October. 

A <a href="https://legacy.wral.com/news/state/nccapitol/document/11455563/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">scheduling order in his case calls for motion filings to be completed in September</a> and sets trial for the Oct. 9 term of U.S. District Court in Raleigh. Trial will be before Judge Malcolm J. Howard.
