A new poll from Campaign Connections could be an invitation to a second run by state treasurer Richard Moore.

The flash poll of 1005 likely Democratic primary voters, taken Tuesday and Wednesday, found Moore entering the race tied with Lt. Governor Walter Dalton.

Bob Etheridge 42%
Walter Dalton 25%
Richard Moore 25%

Bill Faison 08%

Moore has not yet announced whether he'll run.  Etheridge has said he'll run, but has not yet filed. Several sources say Dalton has locked up many of the big donors for the race.

The poll also looked at Democratic candidates for Lieutenant Governor.

Linda Coleman 41%
Hampton Dillinger 23%
Eric Mansfield 18%

Keith Crisco 18%

Neither Dellinger nor (Commerce Secretary Keith) Crisco has announced or filed for the race, but both have reportedly discussed it with party insiders.

The margin of error is +/-4%. The confidence factor is 92%.

Campaign Connections' principal Brad Crone couldn't release crosstabs because part of the poll was proprietary, paid for by the Linda Coleman campaign.

But Crone cautioned that the numbers skew older, and also that they're "soft" - voters weren't given an "undecided" option.

The filing deadline is next Wednesday.
