Want to see the GOP's roadmap to its 68-52 majority in the NC House in 2010?

Florida consultants Jamie Miller and John Wehrung, otherwise known as the Battleground Group, have made their work here into a case study.
The presentation, downloaded from their website here, features several key races targeted by the group. The two highlighted races are District 81, Democrat Hugh Holliman and Republican Rayne Brown, and District 4, Democrat Mott Blair and Republican Jimmy Dixon.

The presentation includes samples of mailers, polls, and ads attacking Democratic incumbents.  It includes the anti-Holliman Racial Justice Act mailer that enraged many Democrats.

There's also an interesting sidenote about a mailer in District 93, aimed at incumbent Dem Cullie Tarleton. It was discarded after a focus group found it too harsh.  It features a woman with smudged makeup and tape over her mouth, accusing Tarleton of ignoring the needs of rape victims.

According to Miller and Wehrung, the GOP House Caucus's budget for 2010 was $1.2 million.

If you're at all interested in political strategy, it's a fascinating read.
