6-year-old's call saves grandma's life
Zion Paschall's quick thinking has earned him a plaque and the praise of his family and Hillsborough town leaders, who say he may have saved his grandmother's life.
Posted — UpdatedZion, 6, saw his grandmother, Bessie Paschall, 67, fall on June 16. "She rolled over and hit the floor," he said.
"I tried to get her to say something and all you could hear was mumbles."
Zion called 911. "My grandmama needs the rescue squad," he told the operator.
Then he called his mother, Edwina Paschall.
When her mother had a stroke, Edwina Paschall said, Zion could have saved her life.
Bessie Paschall has a long recovery ahead. She has trouble eating and speaking, but she is making progress.
Zion's heroism made the front page of the local newspaper, and Hillsborough Mayor Tom Stevens called him a community hero. Zion has the proclamation to make it official.
Zion said he knew what to do from books and the news.
