Teen hit-and-run victim says driver should 'turn herself in'

Dasia Cobb, 18, of Raleigh, survived the collision with a sore arm and a leg brace, but she's still emotionally shaken from the impact.

"It knocked me on her windshield. I was on her windshield," Cobb said.

But the driver, who Cobb said was a woman, didn't stop. 

"She hit me hard enough when my knee, I just couldn't feel my knees anymore," she said.

Cobb said she was walking to school around 7 a.m. in a designated crosswalk on Wakefield Pines Drive between the middle school and the high school when she saw a red sedan coming to the corner to make a right turn. She said it looked as though the driver had just dropped off a student at Wakefield High.

"I saw a red car and I thought she was going to wait," Cobb said, but the car didn't wait.

The crash happened so fast Cobb said she couldn't get a good look at the driver, but she did remember one thing.

"I could hear a puppy screaming or barking in the front seat," she said.

Cobb said she blacked out briefly and was taken to WakeMed to be treated for her injuries.

Witnesses told police that an older white woman was driving the car and that a brown dog was in the passenger seat.
