ASH, N.C. — A family of four was killed Tuesday afternoon when its car crashed head-on into a Brunswick County school bus, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Joshua Steed Williams, 31, Brandy Nicole Williams, 30, and their two children, Gavin, 6, and Joshua, 9, of Ash, were dead when state troopers arrived.

Authorities said the Williams' Chrysler missed a curve and crossed the center line on Camp Bridge Road near the Columbus County Line around 4 p.m., and slammed into the school bus, which was coming from Waccamaw Elementary School.

The driver of the school bus, Connie Russ, 61, of Ash, and the only student on the bus at the time were taken to an area hospital for the treatment of minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
