RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolinians buying more energy efficient appliances can now qualify for another $650,000 in rebates.

The state’s Energy Office said Wednesday that the money had been shifted to the Energy Star Replacement and rebate program from other unspent federal stimulus funds.

Appliances must be purchased by June 1 to qualify.

North Carolina originally offered $8.8 million in rebates, but all that money was spent.

Another $350,000 is being shifted from other funding to issue rebates for Energy Star appliance purchases made by 2,480 customers who had been on a waiting list.
