Raleigh bridal boutique honors military

A Bridal World, 6350-103 Plantation Center Drive, agreed to donate free dresses as part of Brides Across America. The promotion runs through Wednesday.

"They just left in tears because they found the gown of their choice," said Rick King, of A Bridal World. "They were actually crying when they had the gown on. That warms you up."

Bride Rebecca Madsen found a dress at the store.

"Wedding dresses are very expensive and I didn't know how I was going to afford one because I don't know if anybody knows but men in the military don't make that much money," Madsen said. "My husband is a Marine."

To qualify, a service member must have been deployed to Qatar, Iraq or Afghanistan within the last five years, or planning to deploy.

Brides need to bring copy of active military orders for themselves or for their fiance that state the time of deployment and location. All military brides must bring a drivers license and military ID or a copy of their fiance's military ID.
