Bus routes made public worry parents

Ann Harris, who has three grandchildren in the school, says more than just parents and students could access the links.

“You have your pedophiles, your sex offenders, kidnappers,” she said.

The lists showed a student’s name and home address, where and when they caught the bus and what time they got off the bus in the afternoon.

"It is too much information,” Harris said.

Stan Winborne of Granville County Schools said the links were intended to be helpful.

"Safety and security of our students are a number one priority,” he said.

After WRAL asked about the wisdom of posting that much detail online, the district removed the links.

"We did remove those links so we could investigate to make sure there was nothing improper done,” Winborne said.

"I was very upset,” Harris said. “Because we don't really know who is watching that website."

The information was online for a little more than a week.

“It should never have been put up," Harris said.
