LILLINGTON, N.C. — Harnett County District Attorney Susan Doyle said Tuesday that she plans to present evidence about a fatal SUV crash outside a Walmart in Dunn to a grand jury.

Ashley Moore, 16, a junior at Triton High School in Dunn, died in the June 4 crash. The SUV's driver, Dillon Tart, 18, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses reported seeing the teens arguing inside the SUV at a gas station several hundred yards away and then seeing the SUV accelerate, clip two vehicles and then flip several times, hitting the front of the store.

Dunn police said video from nearby surveillance cameras confirmed witness accounts that the SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed.

Investigators have been trying to reconstruct the incident to determine how fast the vehicle was going. They also have been checking to see if the SUV had any mechanical problems or if there was any medical problem that led to the crash.

Doyle said she plans to file charges against Tart but hasn't decided what charges to pursue and wants to put the case before a grand jury to determine how to proceed.

The Harnett County grand jury will meet on July 19.
