150 homeless veterans getting housing in N.C.
U.S. Housing and Urban Development officials announced Friday that 150 homeless veterans in North Carolina will get permanent housing assistance through a HUD rental assistance program.
Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — U.S. Housing and Urban Development officials announced Friday that 150 homeless veterans in North Carolina will get permanent housing assistance through a HUD rental assistance program.
The program connects homeless veterans from local Veterans Affairs medical centers with rental assistance vouchers provided by local public housing agencies.
HUD’s Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing Program (HUD-VASH) will provide local public housing agencies with $58.6 million in funding specifically targeted to assist homeless veterans in their area. The following organizations received funding in North Carolina:
- Housing Authority of the City of Charlotte – $173,064
- Housing Authority of the City of Asheville – $122,622
- Fayetteville Metropolitan Housing Authority – $157,149
- Housing Authority of the City of Greensboro – $134,685
- Housing Authority of the City of Winston-Salem – $151,191
- Housing Authority of the County of Wake – $158,730
