RALEIGH, N.C. — A badly decomposed body found floating in a lake on the North Carolina State University campus on Wednesday has been identified as a missing Raleigh man, university police said Thursday.

Hugh Allen, 48, was reported missing to Raleigh police last week after authorities said he wandered away from an apartment on Gorman Street, authorities said. A Silver Alert for him was issued on Tuesday.

A couple walking with their children found Allen's body floating in the southwest corner of Lake Raleigh, off Centennial Boulevard, Wednesday afternoon. The 75-acre lake is located on N.C. State's Centennial Campus.

There are no indications of foul play in Allen's death, N.C. State Police Capt. Jack Moorman said. He likely died from drowning, officials said.

Lake Raleigh was reopened on Thursday.
