One arrested, another sought in Clayton attempted robbery

Clayton police say Christopher Hilliard, 24, was beaten in an attempted robbery by two suspects on Dec. 16 at his home on South Boiling Street.

Hilliard was charged after the December incident with possession of illegal drugs and paraphernalia, authorities said.

Over the past few months, authorities were able to identify and charge two suspects in the attempted robbery.

Nolan King Knittle, 29, of 4233 Woods Crossroad Road, Dunn, was arrested on March 25. He is charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and breaking and entering

Knittle was being held under a $50,000 bond in the Johnston County jail on Thursday.

Authorities are still searching for Brandon Earl Greenwood, 27, of 1200 Greenleaf Road in Angier.

Greenwood is wanted on charges of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, breaking and entering, assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Greenwood is also wanted by authorities in Wake and Johnston counties for similar charges.

He is described as a white man, 5-foot-7 and 170 pounds. He has blond hair and blue eyes.

Police say Greenwood should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts should not approach him, but should call their local police department or 911.
