FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Three people, including an infant, died Thursday evening following an afternoon head-on collision near Hope Mills.

Authorities said a Ford Mustang, driven by Tristan Hanna, 26, of Webster, N.Y., hit a Ford Explorer driven by Hien Truong, 26, of Parkton, in the 2800 block of Hope Mills Road just before 2:30 p.m.

Hanna, Truong and Truong's infant daughter died at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, as a result, Hope Mills police Sgt. Dave Servie said late Thursday.

Authorities were still investigating the wreck, but it appeared Hanna went left of the center line, causing the collision, they said.

A passenger in the Mustang and a third passenger in the SUV, Truong's wife, were listed in serious condition Thursday evening at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Their identities were not immediately available.

Hope Mills Road was closed for more than two hours while police investigated the wreck and crews cleared the scene.
