Warrants released in death of Juvenile Justice worker
A former Juvenile Justice worker found dead this past August died of an apparent stab wound, according to court documents released Thursday.
Posted — UpdatedOfficers making a welfare check found the body of Jurgen Dietmar Cheston, 48, inside his home at 2700 Westhampton Place around 6 p.m. Aug. 21.
Officers found Cheston's pickup truck, a dark blue 2001 Ford Ranger, about three miles away in the 3800 block of Brentwood Road. The license tag had been removed from the truck.
Authorities found that some of Cheston’s personal property was also missing from scene.
On Oct. 21, authorities said Manuel Salvador Zamora Diaz, 23, of 2251-46H Charles Drive, confessed to Cheston’s murder and “provided details of the homicide only known by the suspect,” according to court documents.
Police said Manuel provided statements that he had stolen property belonging to the Cheston and that property was located at his residence, according to court documents.
Authorities obtained such warrants for Cheston’s vehicle, home and e-mail account. They also collected DNA from Manuel and searched his vehicle.
Cheston was a federal grants manager for the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
