RDU auctions surplus property
The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority auctioned off surplus property Saturday. The annual sale included unclaimed property from the airport’s lost and found, as well as surplus office and airport equipment.

Austra said she was just interested in a travel pillow. However, the pillow came with a box of miscellaneous stuff that she won for $10.
“Not sure exactly what it is, Cosmic Kinetic Art, but I'll find out when I get home,” Austra said while looking at the box’s contents.
This year's auction featured more than 10 vehicles, including four pick-up trucks and four sedans, as well as four 2005 Thomas built buses with seating for 32 passengers.
Susan Beard was the highest bidder on a Ford Taurus with 54,000 miles.
“Eight-hundred dollars,” Beard said of her final bid.
The four buses sold for $16,800.
“I've been in the bus business a long, long time. And if anybody in Raleigh, North Carolina, needs a shuttle service ... I'll do shuttle service real inexpensively,” bidder Curt Williams said.
Other items include more than 1,200 pieces of jewelry, digital cameras, books and laptop computers.
Some of the items not sold at the auction will be donated to charities. After Raleigh Auction and Estate Sales is paid for administering the event, proceeds will go to the state of North Carolina.
