FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The arrest in Arkansas of a man linked to a 7-year-old unsolved Fayetteville murder has Cumberland County authorities renewing their plea for information about the crime.

Isaac Micah McDonald, 34, was arrested last month in Fort Smith, Ark., on a charge that he knowingly exposed another person to HIV.

McDonald, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said, was a person of interest in the 2002 slaying of Janet Norris, whose body was found stuffed in a trunk in a wooded area off Canady Street.

Detectives believe Norris was suffocated with a pillow at her home then driven to where her body was found. There was not enough evidence at the time, however, to charge anyone in her death.

Detectives are asking anyone who has information about the case to call the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at 910-323-1500, or the office's anonymous TIPSLINE at 910-484-TIPS (8477).

McDonald, faces up to 30 years in prison, if he's convicted on the Arkansas charge.
