Fayetteville man recovering after being pinned by minivan
A white Ford minivan hit a house at 209 Lawrence Ave., injuring a man on a bed inside early Sunday afternoon, Fayetteville police said.
Posted — UpdatedPolice said Xavien Bouldin, 19, was pinned underneath the minivan, but his mattress likely kept him suffering worse injuries.
Bouldin was brought to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment of a dislocated shoulder. He hopes to be released from the hospital by Tuesday.
Bouldin was sleeping when the van plowed into his bedroom.
"When it happened I had woken up, but I thought it was a dream. I needed my asthma medicine so I was, like, trapped," Bouldin said.
Bouldin thinks he passed out from the pain. “The next time I woke up was when the people came to get me out," he said.
Bouldin said he is grateful his mother and younger brother were not home at the time.
The driver of the vehicle, 16-year-old Kwamee Dawson, was not injured in the wreck. Dawson lives across the street from Bouldin.
Authorities did not say why Dawson drove into the building.
No charges will be filed, police said. The case is being referred to the Department of Social Services.
